Adding to the growing list of those publicly opposing House Bill 2, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson apparently had originally planned to have his July wedding to singer Ciara in North Carolina, but moved it because of the state’s controversial new LGBT law.
The couple also considered Paris, but Fashion Week complicated their plan, the Wilsons’ wedding planner Mindy Weiss said in an interview with TheKnot.com this week. They ended up getting married in a castle in London.
It’s unclear where in North Carolina the Wilsons had planned to wed.
Russell Wilson graduated from N.C. State in three years in May 2010, but transferred to Wisconsin for the 2011 season.

Since HB2 was passed in March, multiple artists like Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr and Maroon 5 all canceled their shows in North Carolina because they oppose the measure.
The NFL decided to keep its spring meeting this year in Charlotte amid the growing HB2 controversy, and instead reaffirmed its position on non-discrimination. The NBA announced in July it was moving the 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte out of opposition to HB2 as it currently stands. The league, which ended up selecting New Orleans for the next game instead, said Charlotte can host in 2019 if more changes are made to HB2.
HB2 mandates that transgender individuals must use the bathrooms in government buildings that correspond to the gender identity on their birth certificates.
