RALEIGH -- Wake County sheriff's deputies charged a woman Wednesday with fracturing a 4-week-old child's skull, court records show.

Erica Lynn Pearson, 22, of 3609 Willow Tree Lane in Clayton has been charged with one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury, according to an arrest warrant filed Wednesday at the Wake County Magistrate's Office.

Court records indicated Pearson is related to the child but did not state whether she is the mother.

Sheriff's investigators think the offense occurred March 10. Sheriff's deputies obtained a warrant for Pearson's arrest Tuesday, court records show.

Pearson does not have a criminal record in Wake County, court records show.

Two years ago in Alamance County, Pearson was convicted of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, state court records show. One year later in Harnett County, she violated her probation and it was extended three months, court records show.

To be released from jail, Pearson will have to reside with her grandparents and have no contact with the victim or unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.

She must also cooperate with the Wake County Department of Human Services' investigation of the incident, court records show.

Pearson was in the Wake County jail late Wednesday afternoon under $25,000 bail, court records show.
