RALEIGH - The N.C. State Highway Patrol is consulting with the Wake district attorney on possible additional charges to be filed against a driver accused of DWI in a wreck that killed a man and his 10-year-old son.

Christine Meyers, 41, of Blackbeard Lane, Raleigh, was charged with drunken driving after a blood test at WakeMed's Raleigh Campus, said Sgt. Cameron Taylor, a Highway Patrol spokesman.

Meyers' GMC Envoy crashed head-on into a Honda just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Buffaloe Road at Westminster Drive, killing Ruben Medina, 34, and his son, Jefferson Medina, both of Raleigh.

Emergency workers transported two other passengers in the Honda to WakeMed, Taylor said. Their names and medical conditions were not available this afternoon.

"They are still alive, I can tell you that," Taylor said.

Meyers also remains hospitalized in serious condition with injuries that are not considered life threatening, Taylor said.

Taylor did not specify what other charges the Highway Patrol and the Wake County District Attorney's Office may file against Meyers.
