SMITHFIELD - The Johnston County Sheriff's Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred about 1:30 p.m. today.

Authorities said a gray Grand Am occupied by a black female and three black males drove by 2255 Swift Creek Road in Smithfield, and one of the occupants fired a gun. No other descriptive details about those in the car, such as hair color, ages and clothing, were provided.

The car headed toward U.S. 70 Business, said Tammy Amaon, spokeswoman for the sheriff's department.

No injuries were reported.
