RURITAN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS: The Rougemont Ruritan Club has awarded scholarships to three high school seniors. Kevin Gibson of Riverside High School in Durham received The Ruritan National Foundation/Rougemont Ruritan Scholarship Assistance Award. Rachel Austin of Orange High School received The Progress Energy/Rougemont Ruritan Scholarship Assistance Award. And Robby Dow, also of Orange High School, received The Rougemont Ruritan/Jasmine Lockamy Memorial Scholarship Assistance Award. The club raises money for the scholarships with pancake and sausage breakfasts, Brunswick stew sales and a golf tournament.

THREE WIN RUG DESIGN COMPETITION: Capel Inc., a rug manufacturer and importer, recently announced the winners of the Capel Rugs design competition at N.C. State University. The winning designs were created by College of Design students Heather Hardison, a junior, who received the first-place award; Emily Morrison, a senior, who received the second-place award; and Kathleen O'Brien, a graduate student, who received the third-place award.
