APEX -- Apex officials are investigating an incident where a man allegedly tried to lure a child from a restaurant Monday.

The child's mother told authorities the man approached her son in the restroom at the Chick-fil-A restaurant, at 1110 Beaver Creek Commons Drive in Apex. He told the boy he would give him candy to come with him. The child refused the offer and left the restroom.

The man, described as a white male between 35 and 40 years old, was about 5-foot 10-inches tall with close-cropped blonde hair and tattoos on both arms.

He exited the restaurant in a hurry soon after. Descriptions of the tattoos were not available. Nor could the police provide information about the man's weight or skin tone.

He was seen leaving in a brown Jeep Wrangler with a soft top.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Detective Sergeant Sean Pearson at (919) 249-3457, Detective Worth Brown at (919) 249-3449 or the Apex Police at 362-8661.
