A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured Sunday in separate single-vehicle accidents in Johnston County.

Edgar Molar Molar, 33, died early Sunday morning after crashing his 2001 Ford F-150 into a tree while heading east on Sanders Road near Willow Springs.

Molar was thought to be headed to his home, which was less than a mile away. He was not wearing a seat belt, N.C. State Trooper J.M. Dorsey said.

Joleen Ashley Schulz, 23, was traveling toward N.C. 50 on Old Drug Store Road near the intersection with Cornwallis Road when she struck a tree with her 1992 Honda Civic around 6:25 p.m. Sunday.

She was taken to WakeMed's Raleigh campus, where she was listed in serious condition as of Sunday evening, Dorsey said.
