Woman dies after being hit by truck

CHAPEL HILL -- A female pedestrian died Saturday night after being hit by a vehicle on Weaver Dairy Road near the Chapel Hill North shopping center, according to police.

The victim's name had not been released late Saturday night.

According to a WRAL television report, the woman was hit by a truck. The male driver was not seriously injured; his name was not released.

The accident occurred about 9 p.m. It was the second fatal pedestrian accident in Chapel Hill in three days. On Thursday, Lisa Carolyn Moran, 20, of Scotland, was jogging when a bus struck her near UNC Hospitals. She was an exchange student at UNC-Chapel Hill who was to return to Scotland this week.
