Wake landfill to get last load of garbage

RALEIGH -- Wake County will receive and bury the last load of municipal solid waste at the North Wake Landfill, 9016 Deponie Drive in Raleigh, at 10 a.m. today.

Members of the Wake County Board of Commissioners and the North Wake Landfill Citizens Committee will participate in a brief ceremony on the working face of the landfill before the final truck of garbage is deposited.

The county plans to construct recreation facilities at the site. The plans will be on display during the ceremony.
