Many Triangle residents were still without power Saturday evening because of the severe storms Friday night.

More than 7,000 residents of Orange, Wake, Chatham, Durham and Granville counties were without power Saturday morning.

By 10 p.m. that figure was down to 1,948 customers, Duke spokesman Andy Thompson said.

Most of those -- 1,799 -- were in Durham County. Thompson said most of the affected customers should have their power restored by midmorning today. He said the storms that rolled through Durham late Saturday afternoon did not cause any more outages.
