RALEIGH -- Police are searching for an armed man they say is responsible for the robbery this morning of a check cashing business east of downtown, authorities reported.

No injuries were reported.

The robbery occurred about 9:40 a.m. at the Ace Cash Express at 1314 New Bern Avenue, Jim Sughrue, a Raleigh police spokesman said this afternoon.

The business was also the site of an armed robbery on May 23, police reported.

Police have not yet released details about the morning robbery, but the bandit was last seen near Tarboro and Lenoir streets, headed west toward downtown, according to the city's emergency communications center.

The man was described by police as short in stature and wearing blue jeans. He was also last seen wearing a white or light blue skull cap, authorities reported.

Police are urging anyone with information to call (919) 890-3555.
