The state opened a new National Guard Family Assistance Center today in Greenville.
The center, at 1401 North Memorial Drive, will provide services to the families of people in all branches of the military, the N.C. National Guard said in a news release. The state also provides a center in Greensboro and plans to open in Lenoir later this summer.
The N.C Guard has federally-funded Family Assistance Centers in Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Morganton and Smithfield and at the N.C. National Guard Air Guard Base in Charlotte.
The state-funded centers provide resources, guidance and referrals for programs and benefits to military members and their families.
The new center also will provide access to financial advisers, transition assistance advisers, employer support, VA benefits counselors and legal assistance.
The N.C. National Guard has 11,500 soldiers and airmen. Most have been deployed at least once, and almost 500 are currently deployed.
