Driver charged in motorcyclist's death

CORRECTION

A brief in Tuesday's Triangle & Co. section incorrectly described the protective gear worn by a motorcyclist who was killed Sunday. State Trooper J.S. Tribble said Cheryl Holloway Crudup was wearing a helmet that did not meet current legal criteria.

DURHAM -- A Durham woman was struck and killed in northern Durham County on Sunday while riding her motorcycle without wearing a helmet.

Cheryl Holloway Crudup, 37, of 5132 Kenwood Road, Durham, was traveling east on Infinity Road about 6:30 p.m. when a car pulled out from Point Place, Trooper J.S. Tribble of the State Highway Patrol said. Crudup was thrown into the road, he said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car that hit her, Tina Davis, 27, of 4816 Point Place, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
