SMITHFIELD -- Smithfield police seized 240 videotapes from the home of a pharmacist charged with peeping into a neighbor's home earlier this year.

The video footage was shot in an employee restroom at Johnston Medical Center where the pharmacist, Ben Earl Pell, worked, police said.

Pell, of 103. E. Stevens St., turned himself in to police Wednesday when he was served with warrants charging him with 15 counts of felony secret peeping.

Lt. Keith Powell of the Smithfield Police Department said he and other officers, including Detective Dale Wood, identified 15 victims from the videotapes police seized from Pell’s home in April.

Police have not revealed the content of the videotapes.

Pell is out of jail after posting a $25,000 bond.

He worked full time at the hospital from 1975 until he retired in 2005. He had worked there on a part-time basis after retiring, but Suzette Rodriguez, a hospital spokeswoman, said Pell has been suspended indefinitely.
