Cara Daussin, a junior at Apex High School, studied abroad this summer in South America under a $1,000 "Awards for Excellence" scholarship from AFS Intercultural Programs. The scholarship allowed Daussin to spend a month in Argentina, where she lived with an Argentinian family and learned about a new culture. The organization is an international nonprofit that provides intercultural learning opportunities to students. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate excellence in academics and leadership and involvement in community service. For more information, go online to www.afs.org/.
