CAROLINA ADOPTION SERVICES HAS INFORMATIONAL SEMINARS
Carolina Adoption Services offers informational seminars that introduce prospective parents to the joys and journeys of international adoption. Trained social workers who have been in the adoption field for years facilitate the meetings, answer questions and provide insights into the adoption process.
The meetings are informal, friendly and a great place to find out more about adopting from Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America.

CIVIL RIGHTS LEGACY TOUR SATURDAY IN DURHAM
Historic Preservation Society of Durham docents will lead a Civil Rights Legacy Walking Tour on Saturday. Walkers should gather at 10 a.m. at Durham Farmers' Market, 501 Foster St., Durham. The walk is a 1 1/2-mile tour focusing on sites in downtown Durham that were important in the civil rights movement of the 1950s and '60s and takes about two hours. NEW EDITION SCENIC BYWAYS BOOK IS AVAILABLE
A new edition of the N.C. Scenic Byways Book is now available. The book, produced by the N.C. Department of Transportation, provides readers with detailed maps, descriptions and photos of the 51 routes that the DOT has designated as scenic byways. The byways are alternative routes to traditional interstates and highways and portray the diverse beauty, cultural and historical aspects of the state.
New byways listed in the book are: the Aversaboro Battlefield Scenic Byway, Cape Fear Historic Byway, Pisgah Loop Scenic Byway and U.S. 421 Scenic Byway. Copies of the book are available at North Carolina welcome centers on interstates.
The book is free, but a $5 donation is requested to offset the costs of future publications and shipping.
