SILER CITY -- Police have charged the two surviving robbery suspects from a chase Thursday that left a third suspect dead in a crash.
Faustino Rodriguez Waldestran, 26, and Socorro Hernandez Hernandez, 29, both of Randleman, face charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault inflicting serious injury, larceny of a firearm, possession of stolen property, assault on a female and injury to personal property, Siler City police said.
Waldestran also was charged by the State Highway Patrol with felony speeding to elude and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, Siler City police Detective Shorty Johnson said.
Waldestran was being held in lieu of $300,000 bail in the Chatham County jail, Johnson said. Hernandez was being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
The chase began after a deputy saw three men run out of a store and an injured man yelling for help, according to authorities. The pursuit ended when the suspects' vehicle hit a truck. A third suspect was thrown from the car and killed but has not been positively identified, Johnson said.
