RALEIGH -- Police charged a 36-year-old man with driving while impaired after his car struck and killed a bicyclist on Capital Boulevard early Saturday morning.
Ronald Keith Saul, 38, died at the scene.
Ernest Lee Moody Jr. of Raleigh had been taking prescription pills and was wearing a pain patch when the wreck occurred near Interstate 540, Raleigh police reports said. He was being held at the Wake County jail late Saturday in lieu of $102,000 bail.
According to arrest warrants, Moody faces charges of misdemeanor driving while impaired, felony hit and run, felony death by motor vehicle and misdemeanor child abuse for endangering his juvenile son, who was in the vehicle.
