While Floridians have just hours to batten the hatches against Tropical Storm Fay, North Carolinians probably have until Friday to roll out the rain barrels.

On Sunday, forecasters were predicting Tropical Storm Fay would hit Key West this evening and the Tampa Bay area Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Russell Henes, a National Weather Service meteorologist, said the most North Carolina could expect is some heavy rain. "It's too early to tell at this point," he said. "We're still four days away yet. Just pay attention."

Until Fay arrives, the forecast is dry and growing steadily warmer.
