RALEIGH -- The Wake County school system released today its bus transportation routes for traditional-calendar schools.

A majority of Wake's estimated 139,000 students for the 2008-09 school year attend traditional-calendar schools and will hold their first day of classes on Aug. 25. Parents are encouraged to go online to review the bus routes and stops for their child's school.

Routes are developed by the Transportation Department based on student enrollment and then are refined during the first weeks of school as the Transportation Department determines the students that have decided to use bus service.

Specific bus route and stop information can be found online.

Parents who are unhappy with a proposed bus route or stop can appeal in writing for a change by downloading the appeal form.
