Johnston County discharges untreated waste

closeJohnston County discharged about 4,000 gallons of untreated wastewater from the county’s pump station on Wednesday.
The pump station is located on Old Roberts Road near McGee’s Crossroads, N.C. The discharge occurred for approximately one hour. Of the 4,000 gallons of untreated wastewater, approximately 3,000 gallons were discharged into Big Beaver Dam Branch.
The spill was due to a pipe failure. The sewer line was repaired and the area cleaned. The County pumped approximately 8,000 gallons from Big Beaver Dam Branch and discharged it back into the sanitary sewer system.
