CASINO NIGHT FOR CHARITY

The Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston North Durham Office will hold a North Durham charity casino night from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Umstead Pines at Willowhaven, 253 Country Club Drive, Durham. The event will benefit the HPW Foundation, the agency's nonprofit organization that supports local charities.

Tickets are available for a $25 donation, which covers playing chips, hors d'oeuvres and nonalcoholic drinks. Participants can play a variety of casino games, including blackjack, roulette, craps, Texas hold 'em poker, let it ride poker and slot machines. All winnings can be traded in for prize drawings.

GOLF TOURNEY TO BENEFIT ANIMALS

Best Friend Pet Adoption, a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that rescues and finds permanent homes for lost, abandoned, abused and neglected cats and dogs, will hold its first Whiskers and Wedges Golf Tournament at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Crooked Creek Golf Club, 4621 Shady Greens Drive, Fuquay-Varina.

The event includes the golf tournament and a $10 raffle with prizes including dinner for four, one-year gym membership, autographed Carolina Hurricanes hockey stick and painting services. Costs are $100 per person and includes greens fees, cart, golf balls, catered buffet, stuffed bags and prizes.
