KNIGHTDALE -- Fire officials were trying to determine Friday what caused stacks of roof insulation to catch fire Thursday night at the construction site of the Rex Healthcare medical center.
Several 5-foot stacks of insulation on the roof caught fire about 9 p.m., Knightdale Fire Chief Timothy Guffey said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 25 minutes, Guffey said.
The fire destroyed the insulation and some siding at the roughed-in structure.
Guffey said he did not think the fire was deliberately set, though the cause was still unknown Friday.
The 63,000-square-foot building is scheduled to open in May off Knightdale Boulevard near Interstate 540.
