DURHAM -- A Durham man has been arrested on rape charges.

Howard Lamont Williams, 47, of 106 Broadway St., was charged Friday with a single felony count of second-degree rape.

He was in the Durham County jail Sunday under a magistrate's order with no bond set. He is scheduled to make a court appearance Tuesday.

Williams appears to have known the woman he is alleged to have attacked. The News & Observer does not routinely disclose the names of victims of sexual assault.
