RALEIGH -- Wake County sheriff deputies on Friday arrested a man thought to be in the country illegally who is wanted in Illinois on multiple charges of sexual assault, court records show.

Deputies charged Jose L. Segura, 37, with being a fugitive from justice, according to warrants filed at the Wake County Magistrates Office.

Segura is wanted by the Kane County Sheriff's Office in Geneva, Ill., on two counts each of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of criminal sexual assault, court records show.

Court records indicate that Wake deputies have contacted immigration authorities about Segura and that he faces possible deportation. He is in the Wake County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
