RALEIGH - The 20th annual Walk for Hope had a record turnout Sunday and raised nearly $400,000 for the research and treatment of mental illness. The walk was started to honor Thad Eure, Raleigh restaurateur behind such establishments as the Angus Barn and 42nd Street Oyster Bar. It is continued by his daughter, Van Eure.

Nearly 3,000 people came for Sunday's 10K race, which wound through William B. Umstead State Park and ended at the Angus Barn. Donations through Sunday totaled $395,000; organizers said funds will continue to trickle in during the coming weeks.
