Holly Springs wins award for planning
Holly Springs has received an "Outstanding Planning Award" for its Pedestrian Transportation Plan. The honored was presented by the N.C. chapter of the American Planning Association at its recent conference in Raleigh.
The Holly Springs plan, now more than a year old, addresses areas such as recreation, transportation, community building, health and quality of life. It was the result of a joint effort between consultant Greenways Inc. and town, state and Triangle planning officials.
West Johnston band gets Macy's invitation
The West Johnston High School marching band has been invited to participate in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Only five other high schools in the nation were invited to participate in the parade.
West Johnston High's band ranked 15th in the nation when it traveled to Indianapolis for a national competition last year.
