RALEIGH -- Wake County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday arrested a 25-year-old man wanted in New York on more than two dozen robbery and kidnapping charges.
Sheriff’s deputies charged Jose Francisco Rosario of Raleigh with being a fugitive from justice, according to an arrest warrant filed at the Wake County Magistrate’s Office.
Federal immigration officials have also placed a retainer on Rosario, because they think he may be in the country illegally. The warrant indicates that Rosario also goes by the aliases Franky Rosario and Jose Vazquez Rosario.
Rosario has been in jail since May 2, when Raleigh police charged him with multiple counts of cocaine trafficking, a jail spokesman said. He is wanted in the Bronx, N.Y., for a list of offenses that took place in May 2007, according to New York authorities.
Rosario’s bail for the fugitive charge is $1 million, court records show.
