The driver of a pickup was killed Wednesday morning when he ran off the road in Johnston County, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Dewey Williams, 44, lost control of his truck on Raleigh Road, six miles from Four Oaks, at about 6:25 a.m., said Trooper D.W. Green. Williams overcorrected his 2001 Chevrolet truck. Leaving the road, the vehicle flipped several times, ejecting Williams, Green said.

Green said that beer cans were found throughout the truck and that Williams was talking on his cell phone as the accident occurred.
