Johnston County residents can weigh in on the choice of a new Johnston Community College president at a public forum next month.

The college will hold the forum to replace outgoing President Don Reichard on Dec. 3 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in room J1630 of the Public Safety Services Building on the main college campus.

Reichard, who has been president since 1999, will retire July 1. He is one of only two presidents of the school, which will be 40 years old next year.

Public input is vital to picking the college's next leader, said Lyn Austin, chairwoman of the college's board of trustees.

"It is very important to us to listen to your ideas as we go forward," Austin said.
