Police reported an armed robbery of a hotel in East Raleigh near I-440 early this morning.
A desk clerk, Royce Sharief Coleman, told police the robber entered the Comfort Suites on Corporation Parkway about 2 a.m. demanding money. The robber made off with $194.40.
A police report provided no description of the robber and no details of how the robbery happened.
Another desk clerk, Richard Aknok, said in an interview that Coleman told him that the robber entered, jumped over the counter and demanded that Coleman open the register. The robber then took all the cash and demanded that Coleman open the safe.
The robber left when Coleman told him he didn't have a key, Aknok said.
