N.C. Central names chief academic officer

DURHAM -- N.C. Central University has named Kwesi E. Aggrey as its new provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Aggrey will serve as the university's chief academic officer, overseeing its academic programs and providing leadership for deans, department chairmen and faculty. He succeeds Beverly Washington Jones, who left the post this summer.

Aggrey previously served as vice chancellor for academic affairs at Indiana University Northwest. He also has worked as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Lockhaven University in Pennsylvania and as provost for technology, academic budget and personnel services at Ramapo College in New Jersey.

A native of Ghana, West Africa, Aggrey holds a doctorate in analytical chemistry from the University of Hawaii and a bachelor of science in chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.
