Stephen Woodall has received the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting.
Stephen is a member of Troop 300 at St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Raleigh.
For his Eagle project, he built five benches for Crabtree Swim and Tennis Club. The benches will be used at the club's volleyball court and children's playground.
Stephen is a sophomore honor student at St. David's School.
The son of Steve and Joette Woodall, Stephen is the third member of his family to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
WAKELON STUDENT WINS ART CONTEST, D.C. TRIP
A Wakelon Elementary School student is one of four in the nation who have earned a trip to Washington after winning an art contest.
Ibrahim Muhammad of Knightdale, a fourth-grader, will have his work displayed in the America's Future Starts with Healthy Children art exhibit.
Sixty-one original drawings and paintings will be displayed starting Jan. 23 in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington. And four of the artists -- Ibrahim and students from California, Colorado and Texas -- will be in Washington for the unveilings.
The art exhibit is a creative expression by children urging swift action to secure child care for children. It is organized by the Health Rights Organizing Project.
DURHAM TECH'S LEADER TO JOIN COLLEGE BOARD
Bill Ingram, president of Durham Technical Community College, will serve on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
He will join 76 other commissioners who represent about 800 member institutions of the Commission of Colleges. As a commissioner, Ingram will help determine policy, make decisions regarding accreditation of institutions in the Southeast and present modifications of accreditation standards for a final vote.
A native of Ohio, Ingram earned a bachelor's degree in English from Ohio Wesleyan University. He earned a master's degree and his doctorate in adult and community college education from N.C. State University.
