RALEIGH -- An employee of a Hillsborough Street pizza shop was shot in the arm early Thursday during an attempted holdup, police said.
Chang Zhu, 56, was among three workers in Pizza America at 2810 Hillsborough St. at about 3:20 a.m. when a would-be robber entered the restaurant with a handgun, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said. The gun discharged, and Zhu was struck in the left arm, Sughrue said. The robber fled.
Zhu was treated at WakeMed Raleigh Campus.
