BOWLING HELPERS NEEDED
More than 100 volunteers are needed to help support the 2009 Special Olympics Wake County Bowling Competitions. The events will host more than 300 bowlers from Wake County public schools.
Events are scheduled on Jan. 27 at Buffaloe Lanes Cary; Jan. 30 and Feb. 2 at Buffaloe Lanes South; and Feb. 6 and Feb. 8 at Buffaloe Lanes North. The competition will run each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to monitor lanes, work awards and concessions, and in other positions. Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and training.

Special Olympics Wake County offers year-round sports training and competition for more than 38,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
AUCTION WILL BENEFIT FAMILY PROGRAMS
A charity event, the "Silent (No More) Auction," will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Feb 5 at the William and Ida Friday Center in Chapel Hill.
Proceeds from the auction benefit the Family Violence Prevention Center of Orange County and UNC Health Care Beacon Child & Family Program.
