APEX -- Apex High School Principal Matt Wight has been named one of the state's eight finalists for principal of the year.
Wake County school officials announced today that Wight was chosen to be a regional finalist for state principal of the year. Wight has been principal of Apex High since 2006.
Wight was named Wake's principal of the year in October. He will find out in April if he will be named the 2009 state principal of the year.
This is the second year in a row the Wake school system has had a principal be named a regional finalist. Last year, then-Sanderson High Principal Cathy Moore made it to the state finals.
