An Orange County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Thursday night and charged with drunken driving, authorities say.

Ricky L. Sanders, 40, of Carrboro was arrested by Burlington County police during a DWI roadblock in Alamance County, said Burlington Staff Sgt. T.C. Buckner.

Sanders’ blood alcohol level was .12, Buckner said. The legal limit is .08.

The deputy was booked in the Alamance County jail and released. No bond was set.

Orange County Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass said his department responded quickly to the incident.

"As of last night, he doesn't work for us anymore," Pendergrass said.

Sanders could not be immediately reached at his home today.
