Two men were arrested Thursday night for robbing a Durham convenience store and for trying to rob a second.
Gabriel Joseph Brown, 25, of Peppercorn Street, and Arsenio Jamel Lamberth, 17, of Hardee Street were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Their bond was set at $100,000.
Durham police were called to the Triangle BP at 5202 S. Miami Blvd. at 11:09 p.m. Thursday. The clerk told officers that a man wearing a black hoodie with a bandana over his face entered the store, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. The man left in a white four-door sedan driven by another man.
Then 15 minutes later, officers were sent to an attempted armed robbery at a Exxon station at 3321 N.C. 55. The clerk told officers an armed man wearing a bandana over his face entered the store. The clerk ran to the back of the store and called 911.
The man couldn't force open the cash register and fled in a white four-door Infiniti driven by another man.
Soon after, Durham officers B.L. Cyr and T.B. McMasters stopped a white Infiniti matching the description in the 1000 block of South Alston Avenue. Officers discovered cash, a black toy gun, a black hoodie and a bandana. Bron and Lamberth, who were in the car, were then arrested.
