How they did

While Wednesday's demonstration wasn't a competition, I decided to conduct my own taste test.

TEAM 1: David Remaley,16; Nicole Roscigno, 14

Key ingredients: Red wine vinegar, sugar, squash, zucchini

Tasted like: Sugar and vinegar combined for an almost dessert-like taste, if it weren't for the saltiness of the baguette peeking through. Pure deliciousness (my favorite).

TEAM 2: Jimmy Bower, 14; Jeremy Salamon, 13

Key ingredients: Peppers, onions, red wine vinegar

Tasted like: Pleasant tanginess, transforming quickly into a leave-your-mouth-tingling spicy. Pure pop.

TEAM 3: Leanna Michniuk, 13; Suzy Fogle, 15

Key ingredients: Okra, mozzarella, cucumbers

Tasted like: Light, fresh and what a real bruschetta should taste like, with less saltiness. Meticulous presentation, staying true to origins.
