Authorities have recovered the body of a man who drowned in a farm pond off Rock Quarry Road southeast of Raleigh this afternoon while fishing with his son.

Curtis Freeman, 37, of 2808 Wall Store Road, apparently fell overboard into the pond shortly before 2:30 p.m., said Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison. His son, Hunter Freeman, 11, called 911 from a cell phone in the boat.

"They had just left Bojangles," Harrison said. "They were having a day out fishing together."

Rescue crews using boats recovered Freeman's body about 3:45 p.m. The private pond is near the intersection of Rock Quarry and Whitfield Drive.
