RALEIGH -- A Raleigh accountant pleaded guilty Tuesday to willfully failing to file his state individual income tax returns, as well as returns for his businesses.
Calvin L. Blanton, 54, of 3005 Chippendale Road pleaded guilty to nine counts of failing to file his personal income tax return for 2002 through 2005. He also pleaded guilty to not filing corporate returns for Blanton Enterprises Inc. for 2001 and 2002, and for Calvin L. Blanton CPA, PA for 2002 through 2004.
Blanton was sentenced in District Court to 90 days in prison, but that sentence was suspended. Instead, Blanton was placed on 12 months of supervised probation. He was ordered to pay a $2,000 criminal fine, perform 100 hours of community service and accurately file and pay all delinquent taxes within 90 days.
