For the second time in a week, police are trying to figure out the identity of a woman hit by a vehicle.

The woman was struck by a tractor-trailer truck traveling south on U.S. 1 near Crossroads shopping center at 3:09 a.m. today, Cary police Lt. Mark Parker said. The woman, described as black in her 20's and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes, was taken to WakeMed with serious injuries.

Parker said investigators are trying to determine if weather was a factor in the accident.

The woman is the second person this week hit by a vehicle in Cary without identification. It took two days for police to learn the name of Maria Soledad Ponce-Perez, who was struck and killed by a car while jogging on Reedy Creek Road on Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the woman's identity is asked to contact Parker at 469-4016.
