The Sony Ericsson City of Oaks Marathon will have its inaugural run Sunday.

It will begin at 7 a.m. on Trinity Road between the State Fairgrounds and Carter Finley Stadium.

City streets along the 26.2 mile route will be closed until runner pass, but the back half of the event is primarily along trails in Umstead State Park.

More than 3,500 runners are entered, although most are competing in the accompanying Rex Healthcare Half Marathon.
