On New Year's Day, the Broughton High School band will march in the 119th annual Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, Calif. Almost 15 months ago, Broughton learned it would be the first Raleigh high school to join the parade. On each day leading up to the parade, we will introduce readers to a different member of the band.

TRAINING FOR THE 5.5-MILE MARCH: In December, band director Jeffery Richardson made his students walk laps around a track during lunch and march 1.5 hours each Tuesday and Thursday after school.
OTHER WAYS ERIN HAS GOTTEN BUFF: "I do swimming, and I'm also on the soccer team."
WHERE DRUMMERS MARCH: In the middle of the procession, so they can set the tempo, like the band's heartbeat.
ERIN LOOKS FORWARD TO: Going to Universal Studios and SeaWorld, eating on the Queen Mary and seeing Los Angeles and Hollywood.
