RALEIGH - Police say a United Parcel Service worker has admitted stealing UPS packages and trying to sell them on the Web site Craigslist.

Police charged Brian Keith Miller, 36, of 2412 Canvasback Court with one count of embezzlement, according to records at the City-County Bureau of Identification. The stolen items included high-definition televisions, laptop computers and a digital camera valued at nearly $5,000, police reported.

Police think the thefts started Dec. 19 and ended Wednesday at the UPS office at 2101 Singleton Industrial Drive.

The thefts were first detected by the company's internal security, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said Friday.

Investigators think Miller switched the address labels to have the packages shipped to his home, according to search warrants.

The stolen items included a 32-inch Vizio high-definition television, a 19-inch Philips high-definition television, a Dell laptop computer, a Gateway laptop computer and a Sony digital camera, police reported.

Police have recovered all of the stolen items, Sughrue said Friday.

On Wednesday, a UPS representative filed a police report saying an employee was stealing property that was supposed to be shipped by the company. On Thursday, police obtained a search warrant and seized two computers from Miller's home to look for evidence and to determine whether the computers were used to commit a crime.

One of the computers was the Dell reportedly stolen from UPS, according to the warrant.

Miller was released from the Wake County jail Thursday after posting a $4,500 bond, a jail spokesperson said Friday.
