School for deaf looking for director

The director of the N.C. School for the Deaf in Morganton has stepped down.

Linda B. Lindsey will take a position with the N.C. Office of Education Services in Raleigh, according to a news release from the state Department of Health and Human Services.

The school's principal, Janet McDaniel, will take over April 1 as interim director. The school will start a national search for a new director.

Established in 1894, the N.C. School for the Deaf serves children ages 5 to 21.
