A Raleigh man was killed and an Apex man seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Glenwood Avenue that snarled traffic near Crabtree Valley Mall around midday Monday.
Police say Kagney Landon Ray, of Hihenge Court in Raleigh, was driving westbound on Glenwood at about 11:20 a.m. when the BMW he was driving crossed the concrete median and hit an SUV coming the other way head-on. Ray, 31, was pronounced dead at WakeMed.
Police suspect that Ray was under the influence of some sort of drug at the time of the crash, but the police accident report did not specify. Police also think he may have lost consciousness before going over the median barrier.
The driver of the SUV, Yuun Sop Jeong, 45, was hospitalized with injuries that police called serious but not life-threatening. Jeong’s SUV hit a third vehicle, whose driver and a passenger were not injured.

None of the vehicles involved in the crash was exceeding the speed limit of 45 mph.
The eastbound lanes of Glenwood Avenue were closed for several hours after the accident.
