RALEIGH
A tractor-trailer loaded with building supplies struck the bottom of the bridge that carries rail tracks over West Peace Street, closing one of the street’s two eastbound lanes on Wednesday morning, police said.
Officers said the bridge, which has claimed numerous trucks as victims over the years, took the top off the truck owned by Stock Building Supplies.
The rig was removed, and cleanup began for debris left on the street, police said.
