Drivers will be detoured off North Miami Boulevard between Holloway Street and U.S. 70 for the next six weeks, the state Department of Transportation said.
A detour that was put in place Wednesday is for utility work needed as part of the East End Connector project, NCDOT said.
The detour uses Holloway Street – N.C. 98 – and U.S. 70, officials said.
The East End Connector will link N.C. 147, which is the Durham Freeway, and U.S. 70.
The connector was proposed in 1959. The ceremonial ground-breaking was in April of this year.
The project is projected to cost $142 million for 3.9 miles of new highway.
