A construction worker from Virginia was hit by an SUV in a construction zone on U.S. 70 in Johnston County late Tuesday morning when the driver lost control and hit a guardrail, according to the State Highway Patrol.
The worker, Mark Licius of Moneta, Va., was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh with minor injuries.
Licius, 47, was working as a subcontractor for the Deaprtment of Transportation near Bear Farm Road when he was hit about 11:30 a.m. A Dodge SUV driven by Amber Nims of Clayton was heading westbound through the construction zone when she ran off the right shoulder, hit the guardrail, overcorrected and traveled back across the road into Licius, according to the Highway Patrol.
Nims, 29, was not injured. She was charged with failing to maintain lane control.
